We Feel Fine

creativehubb22We Feel Fine visually graphs what 'everyone' in the world is feeling! It scans the blogosphere and represents feelings through the madness of a void of coloured dots, a montage of 'feeling' images, or a dynamic feed of collective thoughts.

We Feel Fine was created by Jonathan Harris, a maker of online projects that 'reimagine how we relate to our machines and to each other'; and Sep Kamvar, a professor at Stanford focused on social computing and information management.

T-Garden

marching2 2

As part of the Interni think tank program, Italian architect Luca Trazzi is presenting 'T-garden' at Milan Design Week 2010.

The 'flora and fauna' of Trazzi's modern garden are structures of threadlike metal armours and warm-knit materials of Sensitive® fabrics by Eurojersey. When lit, these 'technological flowers' create thousands of colourful matches. These lighting components are applied on an ellipse of metal nets to create a modern and technological garden. Inside, the onlooker can interact and play with the installation components, by changing their shape and colour.

Capca – Future City

domaineThis concept was created for Peugeot Design Contest 2008: Imagine the Peugeot in the Worldwide Megalopolis of Tomorrow.

What will city infrastructure and city transport, parking and fuelling be like in the near future? You'd be glad to know that parking lots filled up with cars now produce the oxygen so necessary for life. No more smog and polluted air, no more packed buses and fussy crowds. Targeted towards residents of large cities, large companies, amusement parks, universities and public offices, Anthony Shikhov’s concept looks beyond a peak oil situation to a possible future for private transport.

Graft Designer Kitchen

villagewell2_1Loft Hamburg, located in a restored building in the Winterhude district of Hamburg, is a private 118 square-meter residence designed by Graft. The focal point of the high-ceilinged and otherwise white space is a large pod panelled with walnut. The pod contains the residence’s kitchen and bathroom, hides its central heating, cooling and plumbing, and even provides some cupboards and bookshelves. The owner was looking to use a wide variety of materials, and the walnut pod contrasts beautifully with the soft fabrics, leather and natural stone used elsewhere in the loft.

Government 2.0

tkIn Carol Coletta's Smart City podcast, Tim O'Reilly, founder of O’Reilly Media, outlines how government can be re-thought for the '2.0 era'. Government should, in his view, be thought of as a platform that is most effective when it creates a climate where the private sector can add value to government processes. The interview touches on the windfall of innovation that can come from 'open source' style governance. Also at TED 2010, Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the World Wide Web) gave a talk on the explosion of open data on the web. You can view his presentation here.

Rubikon

barnstromer1In 1979, the Czech magazine ABC (An ABC of Young Technicians and Natural Scientists) published a jigsaw called Dirkon, a functional pinhole camera made of stiff paper, designed for 35 mm film. At the time, there were very few good magazines for young people in Communist Czechoslovakia, so the Dirkon quickly became part of the pop culture of that generation.

In 2010, designer Jaroslav Jurica refined the pinhole camera for the internet, releasing the Rubikon under a Creative Commons licence. Now, with a bit of glue, an old Coke can, and some 200gsm paper, you've got yourself the ultimate lo-budget lomo! Download the Rubikon here - and make sure to post your shots to our Facebook Page.
