Kangaroo and Emu Skin Journals by Narelle Tout

"I believe a  journal needs to be created remembering our sense of touch, and also to be something to bring joy because it is well made - a reminder to me personally of God's detailed creation.

They are something that requires one to add something of yourself. A place to record - memories, drawings, impressions, words someone has said? It needs to be something that encourages you to want to add glimpses of yourself.   The right book should 'feel' good - both to touch, and to hold in your hands.

Leather  is so beautiful because it  feeds our sense of touch.  My favourite leather of all is Emu leather because it has such a soft texture, and there are often rough places on the leather - reminding me of the paths we take that are not always smooth.

I hope that the journals I create will be lovely to touch, hold, and use."

The Wassaic Project

"A rare survivor among the stately wood-crib elevators that once towered over rural America, this 105-foot-tall structure has been reincarnated as one of the strangest new homes for contemporary art in the Northeast, a place that feels like a Lower East Side gallery transplanted into a treehouse, redolent of damp pine and the animal feed that once filled the spaces."

By George! Hidden Networks

Sydney's forgotten spaces are about to come to life as a series of 'urban art interventions' take place in the City's laneways from October to late January 2010. Eight of Sydney's busy thoroughfares and overlooked accessways will be transformed into places meditating on sustainability, including a miniature forest, a seven metre high bar (to reflect the future impact of climate change), soundtracks of displaced birdsongs, and a mini outdoor cinema.
