Alex Lekias: Billions, Zillions and Trillions
Self-taught Perth artist and FORM Gallery staffer Alex Lekias is presenting her first solo exhibition on the 7th October at Behind the Monkey, Highgate. Billions, Zillions and Trillions is an expression of lost control, childhood, lucid dreaming and wonderment in ridiculousness, translated into a collection of imaginative line drawings through ink and oozing watercolour.

Alex has developed a personal, illustrative drawing style, loosely influenced by a combination of 15th Century Gothic Iconic art, Aubrey Beardsley, children's literature, German Expressionist film and Japanese manga.
Working on paper and canvas, Alex uses primarily pen and black ink to create imaginitive, focused line drawings which are often contrasted with clustered areas of congealed 'lolly-vomit' - oozing blobs of colour.
Alex's drawings have featured in local publications and group exhibitions, and she continues to produce all album cover and promotional art for Perth band Sugar Army.
Show opens Wednesday 7th October, 6.30 - 9.30pm
Runs till 21st October at 'The Cracked Gallery', Behind the Monday, 479 Beaufort Street, Highgate
