In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading", a TEDx event is being held in Perth on February 18.

The TEDx series are local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience, combining TEDTalks video and live speakers to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance and inspiration for the TEDx program, where x = independently organised TED event.

For this event entitled TEDxWhadjuk, organised by volunteers in a non-profit production, guest speakers will include Simon Spencer - Yammer.com - speaking about changes in the communication realm; Jasmin Dillon, who survived being run over by a Mack truck and won State Female Triathlete of the Year months after; and Cedric Jacobs, Aboriginal elder, former teacher, academic, and author.
