About The West End Markets
Port Hedland’s ‘West End’ is an historical precinct located at the seaside end of this Pilbara community, and is home to the Courthouse Gallery and Visitor Centre, both managed by FORM. As part of our community development in the region, FORM has upgraded the West End via landscaping, climate friendly shading, and street-scaping, as well as implementing activation programs to foster a vibrant regional centre. Projects have also included the renovation of the historically significant Banger’s Bungalow and the restoration of the Silver Star – an Art Deco train carriage that belonged to a famous Chicago fleet and operated in the Pilbara during the 1930s – relocating the vehicle to the West End and transforming it into a cafe and restaurant.
The West End Markets and Artist Workshops
Also devised by FORM and staged in the West End are the quarterly West End Markets. Through the West End Markets FORM facilitates a curated selection of 50 local stallholders including artists, craftspeople, designers, and gourmet produce. The Markets are the only local maker’s markets in the area, attracting 3000-5000 visitors to each event.
A critical part of the West End Market program are the stallholder workshops, each with a specific business or skill-based focus such as website development, branding, marketing, merchandising and craft or artistic skill refinement.
Detailed information on the West End Market workshops and other West End events can be found on the Port Hedland Courthouse Gallery website.
