This combination has offered a palette of activities including photography, local painting and fibre art, and has engaged the community in diverse issues such as the 1967 Aboriginal referendum, rock music documentary, Indigenous art/design practice and childhood literacy.

NEWMAN
FORM’s official tenure in Newman ended in 2007. Newman: A Creative Resource was a three year program that developed the creative industries of Newman and the Pilbara, through creative skills-based workshops and community capacity and confidence building activities. Projects were designed to benefit the Newman and surrounding Pilbara communities beyond FORM’s involvement by setting precedents for future ventures and creating platforms for greater community engagement, social and creative recreation.

The Writers’ Festival travelled to Port Hedland and Newman with ten of Australia’s’ best selling authors from Australia and Overseas.
Circus Oz workshops
Circus Oz came to Newman and Jigalong in a six month program with FORM and BHP Billiton Iron Ore and that taught locals circus performance skills, culminating in a public circus show. (Download PDF)
Newman Skate Park Project
Launched in October 2007, the upgrade of the Newman skate park was a project managed by FORM in collaboration with BHP Billiton Iron Ore and The Shire of East Pilbara. Newman Police was a community partner. (Download PDF)
