Spinifex Hill Artist Nyapuru (William) Gardiner continues to achieve national recognition following a win at the inaugural Hadley’s Art Prize this month.
Nyapuru Gardiner received the Highly Commended Award for his entry, Strelley Mob, along with other artists Sue Lovegrove, Guan Wei and Jane Tangney, while the main award went to South Australian Indigenous artist Peter Mungkuri.
It has been a successful year for Mr Gardiner since winning the Most Outstanding Work at the 2016 Hedland Art Awards, with exhibitions in Brisbane and Melbourne earlier this year, having his works collected by private collectors and positive feedback on his work from art critics.
Mr Gardiner specialises in landscapes and portraits, and the images he paints are all from memory and based on stories of his life.
Selected pieces of his work can be viewed in our online stockroom and to see more of his work, please contact the Spinifex Hill Studios at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit us at 18 Hedditch Street, South Hedland.
