About Port Hedland Visitor Centre
In 2012 FORM was appointed to manage the Port Hedland Visitor Centre, with the facility now operating as an extension of our cultural programming in the region. FORM refurbished the Visitor Centre at the beginning of 2012, appointed dedicated staff and designed and released a suite of printed tourism materials to service the visitor to Port Hedland and offer dymanic and interesting journey and destination options. The Centre is now fully operational with tours running each week and a steady growth in visitation.
The Visitor Centre is the ideal platform for leveraging the North West’s cultural and artistic identity and for growing the local cultural tourism industry. The outcomes of FORM’s cultural and Aboriginal programming in the region are contributing to a stronger artistic reputation and identity for the Pilbara, which in turn feeds into and helps shape a distinctive, authentic local tourism industry. The facility is a fully accredited tourism facility. FORM has also designed and launched interactive, community-led websites and projects that bring together stories, people, events and places of interest in the Pilbara, under the umbrella of Discover the Pilbara.
As part of the process of redesigning Visitor Centre operations, FORM recently achieved Level One accreditation through the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (T-QuAL). This is the first Level One status awarded to the Pilbara.
