FORM’s program areas:
1. Regional Development: encompassing projects initiated for Port Hedland and the surrounding Pilbara region
2. Indigenous Development: encompassing the Canning Stock Route Project and other Indigenous cultural development projects in the Pilbara, Kimberley and remote Western Australia
3. Place Activation: encompassing Urban and Laneway Activation projects; The Specialist in Residence and Expert Speaker series; and Research and consultation projects
4. Industry Development: encompassing the Designing Futures Cluster program; the creative industries development at Midland (Midland Atelier); and FORM’s exhibitions calendar
All four program areas are unified and guided by Creative Capital. FORM seeks to place creativity and innovation at the centre of Western Australia’s growth of a knowledge economy.
Creative Capital began life as a Perth-based project aimed predominantly at urban activation and creativity strategy. However, we realised that the principle ideals and goals of Creative Capital were not only applicable, but integral, to all facets of FORM’s activities. As a result, since early 2007 Creative Capital has been the overarching ‘alpha idea’ for all of FORM’s programs.
Guided by Creative Capital, FORM has invested heavily in stimulating dialogue, hard infrastructure and cultural programming which aims to shape a legacy for Perth and Western Australia. We have built on the current economic prosperity experienced by the state, but work to take it beyond a natural resources base to foster creativity and innovation across all sectors.
Creative Capital seeks to integrate creativity and innovation into the very fabric of Western Australia. This means reconsidering traditional concepts of ‘innovation’, ‘creativity’ and ‘culture’ and repositioning them not only as important but critical to the economic success and social wellbeing of any place. By doing so, we recognise that significant links exist between culture, innovation, creativity - and the development of well-adjusted, connected communities and sustainable, economically adaptable environments.
